Technical Details

For the curious: filtermusic is a fully static site. The radio stations are managed in a Drupal CMS, and Astro builds everything into plain HTML files. No database, no server-side code - that's a big part of why the site feels so fast.

Streams play through the browser's built-in audio player - no bulky libraries - and Astro's View Transitions keep the music playing while you browse - pages change, the stream never stops.

Most background photos are emailed in by listeners or collected around the internet, from sites like Unsplash.
